Bereavement Counselling

Bereavement, grief and loss will most likely be part of all our lives at some point.

We may experience grief if someone close to us dies or if we lose a beloved pet.

Grief does not just come when someone dies. Grief may appear with any kind of loss, for example loss of a relationship or friendship, loss of a job, loss of a lifestyle, a change in health or physical circumstances.

Grief is a normal reaction to death or loss but for many of us grief can be overwhelming, taking over and seemingly bringing a halt to our life as we struggle to cope with our feelings.

The thoughts and feelings that we experience after a death or loss are unique to each of us as individuals.

You can find out more about bereavement, grief and loss and the symptoms of grief in my article here.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope or deal with your grief, then perhaps bereavement and grief counselling might be helpful.

Grief counselling in West Berkshire

How as a Bereavement Counsellor I can help you.

  • I’ll listen to you.

  • I’ll help you to talk about your feelings so you can process and understand them. You may have difficulty talking with your friends and family and so talking to someone outside of your network can be useful.

  • How I work is trauma-informed and so I will ensure that we work in a safe way to help you manage your well-being.

  • I’ll help you to understand the process of death and bereavement. What happens next, how do you move on without the person physically in your life?

  • I’ll help you to gradually begin to recall memories of the person without the intense pain that can often accompany remembering.

  • I’ll help by introducing some coping strategies that you might find useful.
